It May Seem Obvious
It may seem an obvious thing to do but I still know people, including members of my family, who are happy to sit back and let policies automatically renew.
Had they spent just 30 minutes setting up an account with a comparison site and feeding in the details for the policy they wish to buy, all future searches would only need minor amendments.
When savings can be several hundred pounds, 10 minutes a year is a no-brainer.
Avoid Letting Policies Automatically Renew
A family member recently had a ‘home & contents’ renewal reminder and was considering letting it automatically renew. I asked them to give me the details so I could find a better deal.
After 25 minutes I presented them with a list of companies that were all £250-£300 cheaper than the renewal quote. Not only that, but the new quotes also included legal cover, accidental damage, and higher valuations (for rebuild cost, sale value, expensive individual items, etc) that weren’t in the existing policy.
Check Out The Comparison Websites
So why not set up a profile now on one of the many comparison sites and enter the details of your existing home, car, and travel insurance policies?
Maybe this review of comparison sites could help:
There are even comparison sites for private healthcare, income protection, life, and critical illness insurance. A quick internet search will provide you with popular, and not-so-well-known, comparison sites.
Every Penny Counts!
When you get the next renewal reminder letter, I hope you will take the extra few minutes to save yourself a significant amount of money.
During periods of economic turmoil, every penny counts!
